1.PO 6. Determine the meaning of common synonyms, antonyms, and homonyms.
When students walk in they will be asked to log in on their computers. They will be given a number between 1 and 4. Students must remember the number they were given.The instructor will ask the studens if they are ready, and if they are students will show a thumbs up.
The instructor will then ask the entire class to give an example of an antonym and a synonym.
Students will log in their computers and wait for instructions.
2.PO 7. Determine the meanings and other features of words (e.g., pronunciation, syllabication, synonyms, parts of speech) using the dictionary, thesaurus, and CD-ROM and Internet when available.
The students will be placed with their groups according to the number they were given. The instructor will then give them a worksheet. They will have a certain amount of time given to finsih the worksheet (around 5 minutes). Then the instructor will ask for thumbs up to indicate the students finished their worksheet.
The students will find their group members, sit quietly, and wait for further instructions.
The teacher will pass out the handouts face down to each group. On the count of 3 students will be ask to turn their paper over and begin working on their worksheet. Students will have 8 minutes to complete the story.
Students will work on the worksheets with their group members.
After 8 minutes the teacher will ask if all groups are done. When all students are done they will be asked to go on wordle. When all students are on wordle they will be asked to type synonyms or antonyms.
